Topic of discussion: Vulnerable groups and social assistance and social service delivery
On June 7th, 2018, the European Union Delegation to China hosted a meeting among representatives of civil society organizations and the EU-China SPRP Component 2 and Component 3 resident teams. Civil society was represented by: Save the Children, Plan International China, Asia Foundation, Handicap International China, Beijing Gender Health Education Institute, Consultation Center of AIDS Aid and Health Service of Shenyang. The meeting was moderated by Ms. Sakura Moretto, from the Cooperation Section of the EUD.
The meeting was a great opportunity to support knowledge sharing between the SPRP Component 2 and Component 3 with respect to their focus on social assistance and the work being conducted by a number of NGOs (either directly or indirectly supported by the EU) on social service delivery and issues of its inclusiveness, as well as rights-based approaches to development.
As component 3 this year focus its research on social inclusiveness of social services, to support vulnerable groups like disabled, children, elderly people and access these services, the meeting was an opportunity to raise awareness from the field of the specific vulnerabilities and establish close relationships for more in depth collaboration in the future.
